Hire an Illustrator - Versus Evil Trading Cards

The guys over at Hire an Illustrator invited its members (one of them being me) to illustrate a villain character to go on trading cards they would reproduce and later sell. Other than them being some awesome looking trading cards that can be collected, one of the main functions of them is to promote our work to potential clients, which I think is a clever idea as I’m sure all art directors are bored of just getting another ‘cold call’ email in their inbox, with another illustrator fishing for their next job. I am definitely guilty of that, but needs must, it’s hard out there!

So the deal is when one of my cards is bought by someone, Hire an Illustrator will send another one of my cards to a potential client and this in turn will bag me a snazzy commission…Well that’s the plan anyway. I have also been told that there are future plans to expand the collection with new artwork and produce the artwork on different types of merch which artists will get a cut on, smiles all round am sure.
